Anne Cheney

Augusta, GA- Mrs. Anne Smith Cheney, 84, wife of the late William “Irvin” Cheney, Sr., entered into rest on May 26, 2015 at Westwood Nursing Home.
She was born in Vidalia, GA to the late James W. and Maggie Moxley Smith, Sr. She retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and was a member of Mann Memorial United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Mann Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Sonny Mason officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Smith, Darren Smith, Clint Smith, Wendy Rosier, Scott Griesel, Bobby Maddox, Thad Williams, Dusty Rhodes and Donnie Rhodes.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Edwards Sunday School Class and the Chancel Choir.
She was preceded in death by her brother Harold “Smitty” Smith.
She is survived by her children, Gayle Crawford (Larry) and Billy Cheney (Le); grandchildren, Carrie Anne Crawford (Shel) and Katie Crawford Campbell (Adam), Patrick Crawford and Will Cheney; great-granddaughter, Moxley Anne Campbell; brother, James W. Smith, Jr., (Beth) and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Mann Memorial United Methodist Church 2705 Milledgeville Road Augusta, GA 30904.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.

  1. I have many fond childhood memories that include Mrs. Cheney and Sunday School at Mann Memorial. She was an inspirational lady who will truly be missed. She will be met in heaven by so many Mann Memorial church members, including my own grandparents Vernon and Margaret Montgomery, who have already crossed the bridge to join our heavenly father. My family extends prayers for the loved ones left behind, that you all be comforted in the knowledge that she touched and made a difference so many young lives. God Bless, Carla
