Augusta, GA – Marie H. Grice, 86, entered into rest Monday, May 27, 2012 at Keysville Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Grice, a native of Horry County, SC, was the daughter of the late William Hartford and Lula Sing Hearl. She retired from Fort Gordon.

Mrs. Grice is survived by her sons, Robert L. Coleman of Augusta and Donald C. Coleman and his wife Sandra of Hephzibah; her daughter, Judy Davis and her husband Alton of Hephzibah; her brother, Vernon Hearl of Conway, SC; her sister, Doris James of Conway, SC; grandchildren, Frank Clark, Kimberly Slaton, Donna Coleman, Amanda Coleman, Sharon Aguilar, Susan Hudson and Brandon Coleman; fourteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM (the hour of the service) at the funeral home.

Billy E. Young

Augusta, GA – Billy Everett Young, 79, husband of Laura “Gerry” Young, entered into rest Saturday, May 26, 2012 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 29, at 12:00 PM at Believer’s Gospel Chapel with Dr. Jon Reimer, Dan Hollingsworth and Andy Scott speaking.

Mr. Young, was a native of Buncombe County, NC, and the son of the late Delloyd and Bessie Smathers Young. Mr. Young had retired as a foreman from Augusta Newsprint and had served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Little Hunting Club and the Augusta Newsprint Retirees. He also worked with the Emmaus Correspondence Prison Ministry, and was a very active member of the Believer’s Gospel Chapel. His family said he was a very dependable person who loved life.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children and their spouses, Keith and Dwania Young, Roger Young, Ann Lackey, Doug and Linda Young, Michael and Ashley Young, Mary and Terry Young, Jan and Michael Baggett, Tyra Jean Martinez and Krista and Trent Bullard; a brother, D.G. Young, a sister, Hilda Smathers; eighteen grandchildren as well as ten great grandchilren.

Pallbearers will be, Kenneth Kimberly, III, Christopher Young, Joshua Lackey, Jackson Martinez, Nicholas Young, Russell Burden, Jr., Jonathan Burden and Nathaniel Burden.

Maude Blount Storey

Augusta, GA – Maude Blount Storey, 78, wife of Mr. A.C. Storey, entered into rest Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the residence of her daughter.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 27, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Jerry Cole and Tim Cole officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Storey, a native of Waynesboro, had lived in Augusta for most of her life, and was the daughter of the late Bartow and Cassie Sikes Blount. She had retired following 32 years from the Doctors and Merchants Credit Bureau. She love to write poetry, drawing, gardening and fishing. She loved her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved the Lord her God and she was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Katrina Dixon in 2008; and her son-in-law, Mike Roberson in 2010.
In addition to her husband Mrs. Storey is also survived by her son, Michael Storey; her daughters, Michelle Sconyers and her husband Larry and Debbie Storey Roberson; her sisters, Exarline “Exie” Boudreaux and Elizabeth “Lib” McKenzie; her grandchildren, Kurt Roberson, Crystal Roberson Graybill, Kyle Roberson, Jonathan Dixon, Jenna Dixon, Leslie Ann Storey Cole, Kris Storey, Blake Storey and Larry “Les” Sconyers, Jr.; as well as seventeen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and grandson-in-law.

Barbara Ann Godbee

Augusta, GA – Barbara Ann Godbee, 54, entered into rest Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Friendship United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sandra Lightener officiating.

Mrs. Godbee, a native of Youngstown, Ohio had lived in the Augusta area for the past thirty five years, and was the daughter of the late Mark Edward Wolfe and Alma Mae Woods. She was a bus monitor for the Richmond County Board of Education and a member of Friendship United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Toni Gronner.
She is survived by her sons, Hubert Parrish, III and his wife Diana, and Anthony Parrish; her daughter, Angela Bentley and her husband Dustin; her sisters, Darlene Watkins, Marlene Parrish and Jackie Parrish; as well as her grandchildren, Kori and Matthew Bentley, Tyler Sirmans and Alyssa Parrish.

Augusta, GA – Frances Luvenia Zorn Bone, 87, entered into rest Friday, May 18, 2012 at University Hospital .

Mrs. Bone was born in Augusta , GA to the late George and Mary Hill Zorn.
She was preceeded in death by her two daughters.

Augusta, GA – Shirley G. Greaves, 77, wife of the late James T. Greaves, Jr., entered into rest Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Greaves, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Martha Fitzgerald. She had been a waitress and cook and was the owner of Mom’s Country Kitchen. She was a member of Blythe United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, George Robert Greaves, James T. Greaves, III, and William Giles, all of Augusta; her daughter, Sherry Moats of Westminster, SC; her brother, Tom Fitzgerald of North Augusta, SC; her grandchildren, Tanner Greaves, Olivia Greaves, Kerry Easley and Adam Moats; and two great grandchildren.

Karoline “Lola” Anna Meason

Augusta, GA – Karoline “Lola” Anna Meason departed this life at Trinity Hospice to join her beloved husband, Herbert E. Meason,
Jr. on Sunday, May 13, 2012.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 6:00 PM from Christ the King Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Keener officiating.
Inurnment will be on June 10, 2012, at Riverside Cemetery, Asheville, NC.
Mrs. Meason was born on September 26, 1924 in Munich, Germany, to Joseph and Anneliesa Iblacker. She had a happy childhood despite being affected at times by the upheaval of WWII. Her love for the magnificent mountains nearby was very strong and she spent many happy days there. She shared that love with Herbert, whom she met in 1950, while working as a secretary for the United States Air Force. They married in 1952. She came to the United States and became a US citizen in 1954.
After traveling with the Air Force, they settled in Charleston, South Carolina in 1973. She fell in love with Charleston and knew the city intimately. Her favorite place to wander was the Audubon Swamp Garden at Magnolia Gardens where she loved to take her three darling granddaughters and teach them about nature.
Lola was very proud to serve as a volunteer at the Charleston Air Force Base Pharmacy for 20 years, and was awarded for her dedication.
She is survived by her daughter, Monica Dainer, and her husband Paul, of Augusta, GA; her son, Charles Meason, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Asheville, NC; her brother, Karl Iblacker, of Munich, Germany; her granddaughters, Erin, Caroline, and Nicki; her great granddaughter, Joon Karoline; her niece, Elisabeth Fischer; her cousin, Karola Mueller; and a number of family members who cherished her.

Barbara Ann Burckhalter Garner “Bonnie”

Mrs. Garner was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God. She was an avid gardner, bird enthusiast and loved nature.

Laura Mae Morris

Augusta, GA – Laura Mae Morris, 81, of Pointe West Dr, entered into rest Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at University Hospital.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 10, from 6:00 until 7:00, followed by a Celebration of Life service, at Crossbridge Baptist Church, 3130 Skinner Mill Rd.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 11, at 11:00 AM from Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Brent Dowis officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the graveside.
Ms. Morris, daughter of the late Harvey D. and Opal McEvers Holt, was born in Quinton, Oklahoma. She had lived in Augusta since 1972. She was a member of Crossbridge Baptist Church where she was a part of the Canaan Sunday School class and hosted a Thursday morning Bible study. Additionally, she was involved with Miracle Making Ministries. She had a spiritual gift of encouragement and hospitality. She was an avid bridge player and crossword puzzler. She also loved reading and shell collecting.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Banks, and her brother Johnny Reavis.
She is survived by her son, David Charles Morris and his wife, Dolly; her daughters, Jeannie Morris Butler, and her husband, Loy, Gay Morris, Carolyn Bailey and her husband, Kai, all of Augusta; her brother Clifford Reavis, of Winnsboro, TX; her sisters, Lee Bishop and Alma Crook, both of Bristow, OK; nine grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.

Augusta, GA- Virginia Williams Rooks, 84, wife of the late James M. Rooks entered into rest Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at her residence.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rooks was born in Avera, Georgia and the daughter of the late Seth & Flossie Mae Hadden Williams.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Augusta where she was a member of the George L. Balentine Sunday School Class. Mrs. Rooks taught kindergarden at Augusta Christian and taught at Hillcrest Baptist School and Rollins Elementary.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Lamar Williams and Aubrey Williams and her sister, Edna Norris.
Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Donna Lynn & Kirk Gatch of Augusta, Elaine & Larry Joe Bass of Salisbury, NC and Carol Rooks Perara of Augusta, her grandchildren, Sean Alan Norris, Amy Lynn Foster, Brooke Maddox, Nicole Wilson, Matthew John Perara I, Jessica Elizabeth Gatch, her great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Mattison, Logan, Isabella, Taylor, Matthew,
Bryson, Olivia and Alexandra.
