Lola Mae Rayder

Augusta, GA – Lola M. Rayder,96, wife of the late Raymond Rayder, entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2012.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Burns Memorial United Methodist Church with Reverend Keith Cox officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Lola will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved her for her kind loving spirit and her infectious smile.
Lola was born August 23, 1915 in Watson, AK to the late John and Lola Dickenson and is preceded in death by siblings; Crawford Heath Dickenson, Helen Collins, Ann Livingston and grandson Mark Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Ben Rayder and Rayleen Taylor; nephew John Kent Livingston; son in law Donald Taylor; granddaughters, Donna McGuire and Anna Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Katie, Allison, Jack and Regan.
Lola served her country as a US Army nurse in WW II. She is a former POW held by the Germans in April 1945 before her medical unit was liberated by American Soldiers. She was awarded the Bronze Star for her bravery and sacrifice in WWII. Lola continued to serve as a VA nurse for 30 years and retired from the VA hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Lola was a member of the Military Order of the World Wars and the American Legion.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 2:00 until the hour of the service at the church.

Marion Ruth Carroll-Pair

Hephzibah, GA- Marion Ruth Carroll-Pair, wife of Elder J. Pair, Jr. and the late William Jesse Carroll Sr., entered into rest Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the residence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM Hephzibah Baptist Church with Reverend Danny McGill officiating.
Mrs. Pair will lie in state at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.
Interment will follow in Hephzibah –Vance Cemetery.
Mrs. Pair was born in Greenwood County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late William Tom & Mamie Waters Turnage.
Mrs. Pair was a retired operator of Carroll’s Personal Care Home and Carroll’s Seafood Resturant.
She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church, the TEL Sunday school class and the Eastern Star Chapter #463.
Mrs. Pair was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Harison.
In addition to her husband survivors include, her sons, William J. “Billy”Carroll, Jr.(Martha) and Allen D. Carroll (Deanna)both of Hephzibah, her daughters, Marian “Sissi”Carroll Dozier (Charles) of Hephzibah, Lucille Carroll Page (Jimmy) of Metter and Peggy Carroll Jordan (Scott) of Hephzibah, Her Best Friend Peggy Stewart and a special niece Teresa “Skipper” Carroll Reese. Thirteen Grandchildren and Twelve great-grandchildren.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Kitchens II, Charles Kitchens, Sr.Clarence L. “Bo”Johnson, Jon Speed, Brisco Johnson, Robbie Powell and Ryan Barefield.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the T.E.L. Sunday School Class, Deacons from Hephzibah Baptist Church and members of the Eastern Star, Richmond Chapter 463.

Margaret Ansley Pearson

Augusta, GA – Margaret Ansley Pearson, 86, wife of the late Vernon “Buck” Pearson, of Winter St., entered into rest Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her daughter-in-law’s residence.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, at 3:00 pm from St. James United Methodist Church with the Reverend Sandra Lightener officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pearson, daughter of the late Clinton C. and Mittie Reeves Ansley, was born in Boneville, GA, but had made Augusta her home since her early childhood. She was the Past Matron, Rosemary Chapter #158, now Alice Waren Chapter #483, Order of Eastern Star, Past Grand Marshal, State of Georgia, OES, Past President of Grand Representatives of GA, OES, Past President and Past Secretary/Treasurer of the International Grand Representatives, OES, Past President of Credit Women’s Association. She was formerly an officer, Assistant Secretary of First Federal Savings and Loan Association which later became Bankers First from which she retired following over forty years of service. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she was a member and past president of the Emma Lester Bible Class.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, George A. Pearson.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pearson; grandson, Wesley Todd Pearson; granddaughters, Jennifer P. Stamper and Hailey Pearson; great grandchildren, Michael Stamper, Jarrett Pearson, Alexis Stamper and Nicole Harbuck; nieces Jackie Morton, Jane Edmonds and Betty Thorne; cousin, Dell Hamon; and best friend, Nettie Leach.

Pallbearers will be, Johnny Washington, Bobby Jewett, LaGrand Martin, Ren Hatfield, Michael Ramp and Wayne Colson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Emma Lester Class and of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Augusta, GA – Catherine “Cat” Carpenter, 84, wife of the late, George Harold Carpenter, Sr., entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital Hospital .
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the graveside in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Reverend Danny McClure officiating.
Mrs. Carpenter was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area and had attended Dearing School where she played basketball and she was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and had attended both Silver Run and Powell Baptist Churches.
Mrs. Carpenters family said she had a green thumb and could grow anything, she was a great mother and a super grandmother, and that she loved the Atlanta Braves and coconut cake.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Carolyn Carpenter; sisters, Elizabeth Adams and Faye Kitchens; grandson, Brandon Carpenter; step-grandchildren, Blythe Atkinson, Christi Epps and Chad Epps; as well as one great grandchild, Mayson Atkinson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 9:30 until 10:30 AM, at the funeral home.

Joey Hallford

Hephzibah, GA- Joey Hallford, 55, husband of Cindy Hallford entered into rest Friday, April 20, 2012 at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Dr. Michael Davenport officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Hallford was retired from Savannah River Site with 31 years of service and was an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Doris Buffington Ready of Grovetown and his brother, Doug Hallford of Harlem.
Active pallbearers will be Mark Hopkins, Wayne Sims, Wayne Anderson, Joey Allen, Chuck Camina and Tommy O’Keefe.
