Interment will follow in Passworth Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell, daughter of the late Sam and Ruby Inman Nicholes, was a native of Augusta.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Jennie Reese Mote, of Augusta; two grandchildren, Faye Anderson and Anniebel Mote; stepson, Jason Powell, of Aiken; stepdaughter, Mary Conner, of Knoxville, TN; four great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; brother in law, James Powell, Sr; and special niece, Missy Reese.
Pallbearers will be Rob Anderson, Gary Findlay, Jason Powell, Robert Conner, James Powell Jr., and Tim Reese.

Mr. Bailey, son of the late James Henry Bailey, Sr. and Margaret Brunson Amerson, was born in Hampton County, SC, but had lived all of his life in the Augusta area. He had retired from the City of Augusta automotive department as a mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his children, James H. Bailey, III, Janie Bailey and Heather Bailey, all of Augusta; his sisters, Duwana Crosby and Teresa McGahee also both of Augusta; a brother, Anthony Bailey of Savannah, GA; five grandchildren; several nieces & nephews and great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces.

Augusta, GA – Anne U. Bentley, 79, wife of J.C. Bentley, entered into rest Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

Mrs. Bentley, a native of Old Ellenton, had lived in the Augusta area for the past sixty years, and was the daughter of the late Clifford P. and Betty Baxley Utley. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mike C. Bentley as well as a brother and two sisters.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Gail Corley and her husband Tommy; sons, Ricky and his wife Stacey Bentley and Greg and his wife Mickey Bentley; brother, Leroy Utley; sisters, Mary Hodges, Elizabeth Cason and Shirley Broome; as well as ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Augusta, GA – Dorothy Marie “Dottie” Kemmerlin, 82, beloved wife of over 63 years, to Paul Joseph Kemmerlin, was carried home by the Angels to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 24, at Trinity Hospital.
Her homecoming services will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11:00 A.M., with the Reverend Dr. Randall Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kemmerlin was the eighth of eleven children born to Samuel Earnest and Florence Estelle Goodman Cockrell, in Saluda County, on May 5, 1929. She had been a member of Hillcrest Bpatist Church for more than thirty years where she was active in the Food Bank Ministry, the Burn Unit Ministry, Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), the Prison Ministry, Vacation Bible School and as the Mission Coordinator.
She met Paul Joseph Kemmerlin while in the Lutheran Children’s Home in Salem, Virginia in the late 1930’s, and they were married on September 17, 1948. She was retired from the Richmond County Board of Education after 12 years of service as a paraprofessional.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her three adoring children, Dr. Richard Wayne Kemmerlin and his wife, Jane of Greenville, SC, Pamela Jean Kemmerlin Sowell and her husband, Mitchell of North Augusta, SC, and Valerie Elaine Kemmerlin Austin of Martinez; a brother Bobby Glenn Cockrell of Morristown, TN; a sister, Mildred Heatley of Summerville, SC; Dottie was blessed richly with seven precious grandchildren, Emily Martin, Elizabeth McKenzie, Ellen Hoyle, Brett Sowell, Allison Sowell, Wendy Belcher, and Christopher Austin; as well as seven precious great grandchildren, Emiline, Cameron, Elijah and Josie Martin, Sarah Sowell, Anthony and Brandon Angel.
Pallbearers will be, Ray Smith, George Reynolds, Jamie Golden, Hayse Radford, Jimmy Smith and Darren Smith, Chuck Smith and James Key.

Martinez, GA- Jerry Thornton, 70, entered into rest Sunday, April 22, 2012.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 27, 2012 at 5:00 PM in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Billy Turner officiating.
Mr. Thornton was born in Gadsden, Alabama and is the son of the late Henry & Edna Thornton.
He was retired from Proctor & Gamble after 35 years of service as the Manager of Environmental Health and Safety. Mr. Thornton was a Seargent in the US Army and a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Some of this hobbies were playing lead guitar for several bands in Augusta, GA, working with computers, fishing, gardening, and operating his ham radio.
Survivors include his sons and daughter in law, Curtis Glenn Thornton of Hephzibah, Darryl Lynn & Rosanne Thornton of Evans; his sisters, Rita Morgan, Gloria Braswell and Martha Parmer all of Gadsden, AL; his grandchildren, Darryl Richard Thornton, Stacey Thornton Wolfe, CurtisLee Morgan Thornton, Alyce Brittney Thornton, Landon Glenn Thornton, Jackson Tyler Thornton and Justin Nicholas Thornton; and great grandchildren, Skyler Foster Wolfe and Kennedy Harper Thornton.

Lola will be deeply missed by family and friends who loved her for her kind loving spirit and her infectious smile.
Lola was born August 23, 1915 in Watson, AK to the late John and Lola Dickenson and is preceded in death by siblings; Crawford Heath Dickenson, Helen Collins, Ann Livingston and grandson Mark Taylor.
She is survived by her children, Ben Rayder and Rayleen Taylor; nephew John Kent Livingston; son in law Donald Taylor; granddaughters, Donna McGuire and Anna Taylor; and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Katie, Allison, Jack and Regan.
Lola served her country as a US Army nurse in WW II. She is a former POW held by the Germans in April 1945 before her medical unit was liberated by American Soldiers. She was awarded the Bronze Star for her bravery and sacrifice in WWII. Lola continued to serve as a VA nurse for 30 years and retired from the VA hospital in Phoenix, AZ. Lola was a member of the Military Order of the World Wars and the American Legion.

Mrs. Pair was born in Greenwood County, South Carolina and was the daughter of the late William Tom & Mamie Waters Turnage.
Mrs. Pair was a retired operator of Carroll’s Personal Care Home and Carroll’s Seafood Resturant.
She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church, the TEL Sunday school class and the Eastern Star Chapter #463.
Mrs. Pair was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Harison.

Mrs. Pearson, daughter of the late Clinton C. and Mittie Reeves Ansley, was born in Boneville, GA, but had made Augusta her home since her early childhood. She was the Past Matron, Rosemary Chapter #158, now Alice Waren Chapter #483, Order of Eastern Star, Past Grand Marshal, State of Georgia, OES, Past President of Grand Representatives of GA, OES, Past President and Past Secretary/Treasurer of the International Grand Representatives, OES, Past President of Credit Women’s Association. She was formerly an officer, Assistant Secretary of First Federal Savings and Loan Association which later became Bankers First from which she retired following over forty years of service. She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church where she was a member and past president of the Emma Lester Bible Class.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her son, George A. Pearson.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pearson; grandson, Wesley Todd Pearson; granddaughters, Jennifer P. Stamper and Hailey Pearson; great grandchildren, Michael Stamper, Jarrett Pearson, Alexis Stamper and Nicole Harbuck; nieces Jackie Morton, Jane Edmonds and Betty Thorne; cousin, Dell Hamon; and best friend, Nettie Leach.

Mrs. Carpenter was a native and lifelong resident of the Augusta area and had attended Dearing School where she played basketball and she was a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and had attended both Silver Run and Powell Baptist Churches.
Mrs. Carpenters family said she had a green thumb and could grow anything, she was a great mother and a super grandmother, and that she loved the Atlanta Braves and coconut cake.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Carolyn Carpenter; sisters, Elizabeth Adams and Faye Kitchens; grandson, Brandon Carpenter; step-grandchildren, Blythe Atkinson, Christi Epps and Chad Epps; as well as one great grandchild, Mayson Atkinson.
