Martinez, GA – Maurice A. Hedstrom, 81, husband of Estelle Butler Hedstrom, of Durbin Dr., entered into rest Thursday, November 24, at the Downtown V.A. Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral service arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Hedstrom, son of the late Andrew E. and Florence Stiles Hedstrom, was born in Gilby, ND. He was a retired Staff Sergeant of the United States Army, having served one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He and Mrs. Hedstrom were also the owners and operators of Hedstrom & Son, Inc.
Mr. Hedstrom was preceded in death by his son, Frank Merritt.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Frances Scott of Adairsville, GA, Kathryn Keen of North Augusta, SC, Sandra Lynch of Augusta and Thomas Hedstrom of Gaffney, SC; his sister, Lois Durkin of Inkster, ND; and he is also survived by numerous grandchilren, great grandchilren, nieces and nephews.

Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Friday, November 25, Gerald “Jerry” K. Irby.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Bishop Floyd McComb and Pastor Anthony Irby officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Irby was born in Augusta and was a Truck driver with Broomes Service Center.
He was a member of New Horizon Church of God.
Survivors include: his parents Keelin and Annette Key Irby, his sons, Jeremy Irby and Jake Irby and his daughter Megan Irby all of Augusta, his brother Anthony Irby and his wife Victoria of Ware Shoals, SC, his sisters, Cathy Irby of Augusta, Tracie Woody and her husband Gary of Belvedere, Tammy Walden and her husband Thomas of Grovetown, his maternal grandmother Frances Key of Augusta.

Ruby D. Martin Sjolie
Augusta, GA – Ruby D. Martin Sjolie, 90, of Redd Dr, wife of the late Ernest Martin and John M. Sjolie, entered into rest Sunday, November 20, at her residence.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 23, at 11:00 am, from Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the grave.
Mrs. Sjolie was born in Thomson, GA, and retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Ernest A. Martin and his wife, Ramona, of Waynesboro, Dean M. Sjolie, of Augusta, and Fritz A. Sjolie, of North Augusta, SC; three grandchildren, Frederick A. Martin, Dana M. Barefield, and Brandon L. Sjolie; and one great grandchild, Ashleigh M. Barefield.

Sherry Lynn Greaves
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Sherry Lynn Greaves, 38, wife of George Greaves entered into rest Friday, November 18, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 22, 2011, at 11:00 AM in Piney Grove Baptist, Church 5060 Mike Padgett Hwy., with Pastor Mark Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Cole Pierson, Cary Pierson, Chuck Fitzgerald, Joey Dozier, Ron Carter and Chris Ratcliff.
She was born in Johnson City, TN and lived most of her life in Augusta. She was a very active member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She lived life to the fullest and refused to let her disabilities hinder her from enjoying life. She devoted her life to her faith, family, community and retail adventures.
Othes survivors include her son, Mark Anthony Kniphfer of Aiken, SC; daughter, Olivia Ann Greaves Augusta; step-son, George Tanner Greaves of Columbia, SC; mother, Claudia and her husband Duane “Daddy Rat” Ratcliff of Augusta; father, Kail Pierson and his wife Brenda of Augusta; sister, Lori Smith and her husband Gilbert of Augusta, step-brother, Chris Ratcliff of Charleston, SC; step-sisters, Sharon Thornton of Evans, Karen Boswell of Greensboro, NC, Mary Soares of Grovetown, Lori Odom of Augusta, Melissa Stewart of Evans and Jennie Gibbs of Augusta;mother-in-law, Shirley Greaves; brother-in-law, Jimmy Greaves; sister-in-law, Sherry Moates and numerous aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by her most devoted friend and care-giver Janet Martin.

Augusta, GA – J.B. Thompson, 82, husband of Rebecca Thompson, of Avery Drive, entered into rest Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 19, at 1:00 pm from Westover Memorial Park.
Family and friends are requested to assemble at the grave.
Mr. Thompson, son of the late Paul and Berta Thompson, was born in Glascock County. He was a Truck Driver and a member of Millcreek Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sister Frances Williford, and his brother Ray Thompson.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters Dale Drake and Gale Sterns, both of Augusta; his stepsons, David Ellis and Byron Ellis, both of Augusta; his sister Evelyn Anderson, also of Augusta; three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Martha Ann Lively Turner
Augusta, GA – Martha Ann Lively Turner departed this world and went to live with her eternal heavenly Father on Saturday, November 12, 2011.
Martha was born to T.F. and Leah Lively on November 30, 1933, in Augusta, GA. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Steven Turner, Sr, her mother and father, her three brothers, three sisters, three brothers in law, and one sister in law. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Billy T. Turner, daughter, Robyne T. Hall and her husband, Elwyn, two grandsons whom she dearly loved with all her heart, Richard Steven Turner, Jr. and Trent Talmadge Turner. She is also survived by numerous sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews.
She spent her early years in Augusta, GA. Upon graduation from high school, she was married and in 1952 began her career with the Federal government at Fort Gordon. In 1958 they moved to Jacksonville where she continued her government career by acquiring a job with the VA. From there she moved on to the IRS and then the Department of Public Heath Services, ending with her retirement from Social Security Department of Hearings and Appeals, in 1999. After retirement she continued to work part time for several years and had over forty-five years with the Federal government.
Martha loved taking care of and spending time with not only her immediate family but all of her extended family. She always had a kind spirit and always had a smile on her face for whomever she came in contact with. She was an outstanding cook and loved being involved with and attending church. She was a member of North Jacksonville Baptist Church. She also loved “piddling around” on the piano and organ and listening to Southern Gospel music. One of her favorite pastimes was spending time in her yard growing beautiful flowers and tea olive trees. She was a fabulous flower arranger and enjoyed making beautiful arrangements, especially at Christmas.
A Homegoing service will be held Thursday, November 17, at 1:00 pm from Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 3965 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, GA, with Reverence Billy Turner and Elwyn Hall officiating. Mrs. Turner will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.

Don Vernon Adams, Jr.
Don Vernon Adams, Jr. (Nicky), age 52 of Augusta, Georgia met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at MCG Hospital after a courageous battle with leukemia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Vernon Adams and nephew, Luke Eubanks. Don recently retired as an operator at SRNS after 23 years of service.
Don is remembered as the best brother ever by his sisters: Terri Adams – Gay (Phil) of Augusta, Georgia; Sue Anderson (Alvin) of Martinez, Georgia; and Donna Eubanks of St. Simons Island, Georgia. He is remembered as the best uncle ever by nieces and nephews: Jacob Adams; Maggie Witherington (Sam); Shane Gay; Adam Anderson (Christina); Martha Eubanks; and Matthew Eubanks. He is loved and cherished by his great nieces and nephews: Lily Grace and Danner Witherington; Carson and Charleston Anderson; Marissa, Avery and Brittany Eubanks; and Eli Armstrong.
In sickness and in health, Don lived a life of selflessness, love and laughter. In honor of his wishes to forego funeral services, the family asks that friends and loved ones hold dear the many cherished memories and laughter that Don left behind. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and staff of the MCG 5South Cancer Unit and the MCG Cancer Center for the loving, compassionate care given to Don and family members during his illness and treatments. They will always be cherished as an extension of our hero, “Nicky’s” family.

She was born in Augusta to the late Mitchell and Mary Cashin Hester. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic and retired from Sherman and Hemstreet.
