Augustus W. (Gus) James

Augusta, GA – Augustus W. (Gus) James, 67, husband of Carolyn Kaylor Key James, of Hammond Ave, entered into rest, Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the residence.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, Friday, August 6, at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Jody Boulineau officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. James, son of the late Weldon Woodrow and Sara Ella Cave James, was a Welder and a Pattern Maker with Georgia Iron Works. He was previously with Augusta Foundry for 38 years. He served in the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his son, Heath James, and by his brothers, Weldon Woodrow James, Jr, and Ernest Claude James.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Heather James Thompson and her husband, Joe, of Martinez; stepsons, Ron Key Jr, of Hephzibah, and Jamie Key, of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Cameron Thompson, Justin Thompson, and Courtney Thompson, Caylan Key, Luke Key, Brittany Key, Bailie Jaye, Rylie Grace Key; sisters, Martha Harrell, of Augusta, Barbara Markwalter, of St. Petersburg, FL, Betty Ray, of Ethridge, TN, and Diane Smith, of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Kaylor, Charles Kaylor, Ron Key, Jr. Caylan Key, Joe Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Darryl Skelley, and Billy Atkins.

Augusta, Ga.- Ebbie F. Doolittle, 52, entered into rest Monday, August 2, 2010.
Graveside memorial service will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. in Westview Cemetery.
Survivors include; Daughters, Ruby Patisaul , Dana Steele, his father, Brodus Doolittle, his brother, Chandler Harmon.

Glenda Kay Smith

Augusta, Ga. – Glenda Kay Smith , 64, wife of Carl Smith of Reese Ave. entered into rest Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Sceven County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. from Open Door Baptist Church with Dr. Ron McMillian officiating.
Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith was born in Richmond County and the daughter of the Late Bailey B. and Louise Rowland Martin. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Additional survivors include her sons and daughter in law, Howell Lariscy and Herschel and Danielle Lariscy all of Sylvania, Georgia, her grandchildren, Heather Bragg and her husband David, Omer Lariscy, Mason Lariscy,Katie Lariscy,Ashley Lariscy,Savannah Lariscy,Aaron Lariscy , William Lariscy, step-grandchildren, Patrick Bowen and Russell Waters, great-grandchildren, Jacob Bragg and Julian Bragg.
her brothers and sisters in law, Leonard and Mildred Martin of Augusta, Frank and Vi Martin of New Ellenton SC, her sisters and brothers in law, Myrtle and Seaborn Todd of Camak, Ga. And Ernestine and David Pullium of Greensboro, NC. And several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Martin, Marty Todd, Robert Martin , Roger Martin and Philip Martin.

The family will receive friends Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service.

Horace L. “Don” Matthews

Augusta, GA – Horace L. “Don” Matthews, 78, husband of Mrs. Geneva Flowers Matthews, entered into rest Saturday, July 31, 2010 at University Hospital.
Funeral services, will be held Monday, August 2, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. from the McBean Baptist Church with the Reverend Wayne Todd officiating.
Interment will be on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery, Jesup, GA, with the Reverend Edgar Waters officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Air Force Honor Guard.
Mr. Matthews was a native of Decatur County, GA and the son of the late Remus P. and Lucy Nell Cloud Matthews. He served his country in the United St ates Air Force and was a firm believer in God, Patriotism and Country. He taught Adult Bible School, had a prison ministry, visited the sick and was a supporter of the Susan Swanson Program of Augusta Care Pregnancy. Mr. Matthews was a licensed minister in the Assemblies of God Church and attended McBean Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Douglas and Amy Morris of Germantown, MD and Robert “Bob” and Jill Morris of Jacksonville, FL; a half-brother, Dextral Austin of Conyers, GA; a half-sister, Ramona Sue Richardson of Tempe, AZ; and two grandchildren, Bailey Morris and Brooke Morris.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
