Augusta, GA – Mrs. Dixie Ann Atkins, 66, wife of Mr. Billy R. Atkins of Virginia Ave., entered into rest Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 11:00 A.M., from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Frank Thigpen officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Atkins, a native and lifelong resident of Augusta was the daughter of the late Albert and Pearl Davis Ruffin. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a good wife. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
In addtion to her husband Mrs. Atkins is survived by her children and their spouses, Cathy and Eric Howard of Martinez and Chuck and Tammi Atkins of Grovetown; a sister, Lucille Ruffin, of Grovetown; and three grandchildren, Amanda Howard, Travis Howard and Ashley Atkins.
Active pallbearers will be James Paul, Tommy Fennell, Robert Cheek, Barry James, Jeff Hadden and Chris Redmond.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Jenny Lynn Hutto
Hephzibah, GA – Jenny Lynn Hutto, 46, wife of the late Wesley Thomas Hutto, of Brown Road, entered into rest Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 17, 2010, at 1:00 P.M., at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with Dr. L. Gordon Robinson and Rev Billy Turner officiating.
Mrs. Hutto was a native and lifelong resident of Hephzibah. She was a homemaker, a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, a former member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church and was currently attending Hillcrest Baptist Church. She was a loving, giving person who loved helping others and who loved animals, especially Tippy and Midnight.
Mrs. Hutto is survived by her parents, John William and Amelia Frances McDade Goodin of Hephzibah; her children, John Raymond “J.R.” Hutto and Shannon Lynn Odom both of Hephzibah; her brother and sister-in-law, John Chester “J.C.” and Kay Goodin of Aiken, SC; and her sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Keith Sessler of Luray, VA.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Odom, Patrick Meyer, James Daniels, Cheryl Hutchins, Kathy Kershner, Monica Warner, Brooke Stringfellow, and Dawn Howell.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home and a celebration of Mrs. Hutto’s life will be held at her home on Saturday evening beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Evelyn Simpson Pennington
Augusta, GA – Evelyn Simpson Pennington, 88, wife of the late Ernest J. Pennington, of Canada Drive, entered into rest, Monday, July 12, 2010, at Doctors Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 16, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverends Charlie Benson and Victor Jason officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Matthews, Georgia.
Mrs. Pennington was a battery filler with King Mill and was a Baptist.
She is survived by sons James E. Brooks, Sr, and Barrett Pennington; daughters, Edith Jason and Shirley Legrand; step daughter, Hazel Merchant, Saluda, SC; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.

Mr. Billy Ralph Shears
Augusta, Ga. – Mr. Billy Ralph Shears, 75, of Middleton Place husband of Mrs. Charlotte Shears entered into rest Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Trinity Hospital.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 13, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Reverend Lane Lowrey officiating.
Mr. Shears was a native of Oxford, Alabama, and served in the United States Army. He was of the Baptist Faith. He retired after thirty-four years as Executive Manager of A.A. Friedman & Company.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son Robert Keith Shears and his wife, Margaret, of Augusta; daughter, Pamela Rayburn and her husband, Chris, also of Augusta; grandchildren, Jeremy Rodriguez, Jana O’Connor, and Brooke Shears; great grandchildren, Cameron Rodriguez, Palmer Rodriguez, Madisyn O’Connor, Carleigh O’Connor, and Lexie Kate O’Connor; step grandchildren, Catherine Rayburn and Jacob Rayburn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Nathaniel Harrison, Randy Beckum, Jeremy Rodriguez, Chad O’Connor, Chris Rayburn, Lee Ledbetter, Ed Mundy, Ronnie Dove, Bill Harrison and Herbert Ledbetter.

Allan F. Baker
Augusta, GA – Mr. Allan Francis Baker, 81, husband of Velmaree McKinney Baker entered into rest on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Trinity Hospital.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Bill Marlette officiating. Burial will be at later date in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.
Other survivors include his children, Arthur Baker of High Point, NC; daughters, Abigail Aurandt of Largo, FL, Angela Baker of Maryville, OH and Hope Hermes of Oldsmar, FL; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Baker was born in Fairhaven, MA to the late Arthur and Mary Rose Baker. He was in the US Navy and retired from the US Air Force at the rank of CMSGT serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a member of Curtis Baptist Church, the Retired Enlisted Association and a 1975 graduate of Central Florida University.

Carlton A. Lord
Augusta, GA – Carlton A. Lord, 65, of Courtney Rd, husband of the late Carolyn Harris Lord, entered into rest, Monday, July 5th, 2010, at the residence.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 8, 2010, at 11:00 am, at Glenn Hills Baptist Church, with the Reverend David D. Stockton, Pastor of Whispering Pines Baptist Church, and Reverend David Shelton officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Lord, son of the late Charlie Thomas and Fannie L. Cook Lord, was a native of Richmond County. He was a fireman with the Augusta Fire Department for 33 years, where he received the rank of Captain. He was a member of Glenn Hills Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon and was past Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He also taught Sunday School and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Lord.
He is survived by son, Tony Lord and his wife, Deborah, of Appling; daughter, Cheryl Lavigne and her husband, Donald, of Martinez; brother, Larry Lord, of Augusta; grandchildren, Chase Lord, Chad Lord, Bryce Lavigne, and Sophia Lavigne.
Active pallbearers will be active firemen.
Honorary pallbearers will be retired members of the Augusta Fire Department.

Augusta, GA – Mr. Lonnie D. Utley, Jr., husband of 46 years to the late Inez Farr Utley entered into rest on Friday, July 2, 2010 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 6, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Greg Bentley and Reverend Marion Jay officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his daughters, Sandra Westberry, Carol Taylor and her husband Jessie both of Augusta and Janice Herron and her husband Freddie of Aiken, SC; brother, Marion Utley and his wife Virginia of Gough, GA; sister, Hattie Copeland and her husband Edward of Augusta; seven grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.
Mr. Utley a native of Gough, GA had retired from Georgia Regional Hospital and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Funderburg was born in Aiken County to Don Lee and Alice Faye Breslin Funderburg, and was a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Melissa Funderburg, of Augusta; his father, Don Funderburg, Sr, of Augusta; sons, Willie Funderburg and Billie Funderburg, both of Aiken; daughter, Melea Faye Funderburg; brothers, Mark Funderburg, of Augusta, and Skipp Homschek, of North Augusta; sisters, Linda Baker of Augusta, and Donna Munn, of Clark Hill, SC, and several nieces and nephews.
