Wilfred J. LaPrade, Sr.

Thomson, GA – Wilfred J. LaPrade, Sr., 73, of Howard Rd., Thomson, entered into rest Thursday, May 27, 2009, at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Friday, today, at 3:30 P.M., from the graveside in Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Frankie May officiating. Family and friends should assemble at the graveside.
Mr. LaPrade, a native of Schnectady, NY, had lived in Augusta for more than 30 years. He had retired from the U.S. Army with the rank of Sergeant First Class. Mr. LaPrade was a jack of all trades who enjoyed gardening, reading, and working crossword puzzles.
Mr. LaPrade is survived by the mother of his children, Marion LaPrade of Augusta, seven children; and a host of grandchildren and family.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.

Franklin F. Parrish, Sr.

Augusta, GA.- Franklin Frazier Parrish, Sr., 76, entered into rest Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at VA Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M., in the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Steve White officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Survivors include his children, Cheryl Ann Parrish of Augusta, Franklin Frazier Parrish, Jr., of Grovetown and Kathyrn April Parrish of Augusta; step-children, Wendy Jones, Joe Yearty and Brian Yearty all of Augusta; brothers, Edwin Parrish of Thomasville, AL and Albert Parrish of Augusta; sister, Willadean Johnson of Tifton, GA and three grandchildren, Rachel Munger, Mitchell Parrish and Laura Parrish.

Mr. Parrish was born in Dothan, AL to the late Ima and Annie Powell Parrish. He was a US Army veteran and was the Sales Manager for Daniel Lincoln Mercury from 1978 until 1989.

Steven Elliott Smith

Hephzibah, GA – Steven Elliott Smith, 46, of Old Waynesboro Road, son of Joyce Story Smith and the late Elliott D. Smith, entered into rest Thursday, May 13 2010, at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born in McDuffie County and had lived in the Augusta area for all of his life.  He was a loving person and was especially fond of music and the outdoors.  He loved his family very much.  He was an avid fan of  Chicago Bears Football.  He was a very special person who will be loved and missed by all, especially his family.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by brother, Eric Smith; his sister, Marcia Smith; niece, Heather Smith; great nephew, Jackson Smith; a host of aunts and uncles; and his special friend, Stonewall.

Jonathan G. Ivey

Evans, GA – Jonathan G. Ivey, 53, of Quinn Dr, husband of the late Louise Ames Ivey, entered into rest Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at his residence.
Memorial services will be held, Saturday, May 15, 2010, at 6:00 pm, from Wesley United Methodist Church, 825 North Belair Rd, Evans, GA, with the Reverend Pat Williams officiating.
Mr. Ivey, son of the late Donald Wesley and Helen Johnson Ivey, was born in Owensboro, KY. He worked with Elanco as a quality auditor. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where he served as a member of the Praise Band, and the Hand Bell Choir. He was a member of the Columbia County Orchestra and Youth Orchestra.
He is survived by his daughters, Alison Ivey, of Hephzibah, and Jocelyn Ivey, of Augusta; brother, Christopher Ivey, of Chico, CA; sisters, Elizabeth Williams, of Lexington, KY, and Laura Crager, of Grain Valley, MO; sister in law, Dorothy Egner, of Barrington, NJ; and special friend, Andrea Hilderbrand, of Grovetown.

Durward Allen Wright

Augusta, GA – Durward Allen Wright, 86, husband of Annie Syms Wright, entered into rest Monday, May 10, 2010, at Doctors Hospital.
Graveside services will be held, Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 2:00 pm, in Hillcrest Memorial Park, with the Reverend Jerry Wilson officiating.
Mr. Wright was born in Richmond County, son of the late Charlie Wright and Cebelle Raborn Wright James. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and he served in the United States Army during World War II..
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son and daughter in law, Wendell A. and Judy Wright, of Anderson, SC; grandsons, Allen Wright and his wife, Tammy, of Pelzer, SC, Paul Wright and his wife, Kathy, of Spartanburg, SC and Jared Wright, of Norcross, GA; great grandchildren, Noah Wright and Gabrielle Wright; brother, Charle F. Wright, Augusta; and sister, Janet Morgan, Augusta.
Pallbearers will be Allen Wright, Paul Wright, Jared Wright, Hayden Wright, Edward Skinner and James Raborn.

Harry Kesterson

Harry Kesterson, age 68, died May 7, 2010, in the Shock-Trauma Unit at the Medical College of Georgia Medical Center Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jo (Kuntz), daughters Leigh Ann Arnholt (Charlie) of East Liverpool, Ohio and Stephanie Reda of Columbus, Ohio, a brother Albert Kesterson (Tamara) of Greenville, SC, grandchildren Nathan, Nick, Danah, Stephen, Auria, and Kaydence. He is also survived by Marie Gerbus, Aunt, and sisters-in-law Patti Doss of MI, Mary Kuntz of FL as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jean Kesterson and his brother, Stephen.

Harry and Jo had recently moved from Delaware, OH to South Carolina to pursue their retirement dreams.

Following his graduation from Linden McKinley High School in 1961, he attended Franklin University in Columbus; and served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne and Ranger Division in Germany and Ft. Campbell, KY.

He had an exemplary 31 year career with United Parcel Service. Following retirement, Harry pursued his passions which included travels with Jo, activities with his family, fishing and golf. He was also an active member of the Genoa Baptist Church in Westerville, OH. Harry was an avid supporter of the Soldier’s Angel organization. A Memorial Service shall be held on May 21, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Rd, Westerville, OH 43082. Visitation hours shall be from 9 – 11:00. A reception and lunch will be served after the service.

Larry Alan Wilkerson

Hephzibah, Ga.- Larry Alan Wilkerson, 58, entered into rest Thursday, May 6, 2010.
Memorial services will be held Monday, May 10, 2010 at 5:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating.
Mr. Wilkerson was born in Canandaigua, New York and the son of the late Virgil Wilkerson and Hazel Marie Hulburt . He was a data coodinator with Georgia Power, where he gave work directions to GIS technicians of the northeast region of Georgia. He also supplied data support for the engineers for the northeast region. Mr. Wilkerson attended the Monroe Church of God in Monroe, Ga.
Survivors include his daughters, Annissa Hughes of Gaskin, FL, Paige Smith of Griffin, Ga., Ashley Wilkerson of Columbus, Ga. His sons and daughters in law, Zachary and Selena Wilkerson of Good Hope, Ga. And Logan and Ashley Wilkerson of Norfolk, Va., his grandchildren, James Peak, Corey Peak, Coby Wilkerson, Peyton Wilkerson, Kayla Bentley, Brenda Bentley, Peyton Bentley and Kamden Wilkerson, his adopted mother, Martha Faye Sanders of Hephzibah, his sisters and brother in law, Laurie Soles of St. Petersburg, FL, Teresa and Robert Stroup of Seminole, Fl and there children, Brandi Barilla, Charles Stroup and Alexander Stroup.
