Ernest Ray Cahoon – Retiree Sunny Land Foods

Hephzibah, GA – Ernest Ray Cahoon, 84, husband of Vanice Highsmith Cahoon, of Plantation Rd, entered into rest Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 3:00 pm, from Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Pastor Charlie Peters officiating. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the grave.
Mr. Cahoon, son of the late Jessie Robert and Azetta Werthington Cahoon, was born in Greenville, NC. He served in World War II with the United States Navy and retired from the Sales department at Sunny Land Foods. He was a member of Dallas Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters Janet Morton and Nancy Shirley, both of Ayden, NC, and Kay Cahoon, of Raleigh, NC; sister, Ann Donnely, of Hendersonville, NC; four grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Bobby Ray Copeland

Augusta, GA – Bobby Ray Copeland, 71, of Melrose Dr., entered into rest Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Brother Gilbert Wommack officiating. Interment will follow with full miltary honors in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Copeland, a native of Emmanuel County, GA, was the son of the late Markus and Ruby Kight Copeland. He had retired as Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army and served two tours as a Combat Medic in Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He loved to hunt and fish, gardening and woodworking. He was of the Holiness Faith.
Mr. Copeland is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Pam Copeland of Hampton, VA and Timothy and Patricia Copeland of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and George Houghton of Belvedere, SC; brothers, James Jewell of Grovetown, George Copland of Augusta, Markus Copeland of Dade City, FL, and Melvin Copeland, Vidalia, GA; sister Eunice Dickey of Lyons, GA and Brenda Tyson of Ohoopee, GA; and a host of grandchildren.
The family will receive friends this Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Richard “Rick” Magretto

Martinez, GA – Richard “Rick” Magretto, 68, husband of Jennie Magretto of Old Trail Rd., entered into rest Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at his residence.
Memorial servcies will be held from the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors this Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Tobin Burnett officiating.
Mr. Magretto, a native of Los Angeles, CA, was the son of the late Frank and Mary Calofono Magretto. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of SGT. He also earned three Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star while serving with the Special Forces in Vietnam. Mr. Magretto was the former owner of the American Speed Center, was instrumental in bringing the Augusta Southern National Drag Boat Race to Augusta and was himself a champion drag boat racer. He was of the Cathloic faith.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Law of Augusta, Robin and Sigrid Murphy Law of Lake Tahoe, CA; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Jose Silva and Alana and Alan Kneece all of Nintey Six, SC; sister, Rosemary Magretto, of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Neda and Michael Silva, and Anthony Law; three great grandchildren, Isiah, Nathan and Saraha Duffy.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Gerorgia War Veterans Nursing Home, 1101 15th St. Augusta, GA 30901.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
