Hephzibah, GA – Ernest Ray Cahoon, 84, husband of Vanice Highsmith Cahoon, of Plantation Rd, entered into rest Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 3:00 pm, from Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Pastor Charlie Peters officiating. Family and friends are requested to assemble at the grave.
Mr. Cahoon, son of the late Jessie Robert and Azetta Werthington Cahoon, was born in Greenville, NC. He served in World War II with the United States Navy and retired from the Sales department at Sunny Land Foods. He was a member of Dallas Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters Janet Morton and Nancy Shirley, both of Ayden, NC, and Kay Cahoon, of Raleigh, NC; sister, Ann Donnely, of Hendersonville, NC; four grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Bobby Ray Copeland
Augusta, GA – Bobby Ray Copeland, 71, of Melrose Dr., entered into rest Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Brother Gilbert Wommack officiating. Interment will follow with full miltary honors in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Copeland, a native of Emmanuel County, GA, was the son of the late Markus and Ruby Kight Copeland. He had retired as Sergeant First Class from the U.S. Army and served two tours as a Combat Medic in Vietnam. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He loved to hunt and fish, gardening and woodworking. He was of the Holiness Faith.
Mr. Copeland is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Pam Copeland of Hampton, VA and Timothy and Patricia Copeland of Augusta; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and George Houghton of Belvedere, SC; brothers, James Jewell of Grovetown, George Copland of Augusta, Markus Copeland of Dade City, FL, and Melvin Copeland, Vidalia, GA; sister Eunice Dickey of Lyons, GA and Brenda Tyson of Ohoopee, GA; and a host of grandchildren.
The family will receive friends this Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Richard “Rick” Magretto
Martinez, GA – Richard “Rick” Magretto, 68, husband of Jennie Magretto of Old Trail Rd., entered into rest Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at his residence.
Memorial servcies will be held from the Chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors this Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., with Dr. Tobin Burnett officiating.
Mr. Magretto, a native of Los Angeles, CA, was the son of the late Frank and Mary Calofono Magretto. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he attained the rank of SGT. He also earned three Purple Hearts and one Bronze Star while serving with the Special Forces in Vietnam. Mr. Magretto was the former owner of the American Speed Center, was instrumental in bringing the Augusta Southern National Drag Boat Race to Augusta and was himself a champion drag boat racer. He was of the Cathloic faith.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis Law of Augusta, Robin and Sigrid Murphy Law of Lake Tahoe, CA; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Jose Silva and Alana and Alan Kneece all of Nintey Six, SC; sister, Rosemary Magretto, of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Neda and Michael Silva, and Anthony Law; three great grandchildren, Isiah, Nathan and Saraha Duffy.

William E. (Bill) Smith
Augusta, Ga. – William E. (Bill) Smith, 60, of Overlook Rd., entered into rest Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Lake Crossing Health Center, Leah, Ga.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. from Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Chaplain Frankie May officiating.
Bill was a native of Indian Head, MD and lived in France and Germany during his teenage years. He resided in Augusta since 1968, and worked as a commercial carpenter in Atlanta and Augusta.
Bill is preceded in death by his father, William A. (Bill) Smith.
He is survived by his mother, Maria E. Smith, a sister, Monica Schoolfield of Augusta, daughter Danna Crowell, granddaughter Kari Crowell, grandsons Brandon Fesperman, and Dylan Elrod all of New London, NC

Augusta, GA – Edna Mae Danner Hill, 94, wife of the late Harold Hill entered into rest Friday, April 23, 2010, at Lake Crossing Health Center.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., at Fleming Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Atkins officiating.
Interment will be at 3:00 P.M., in the Hephzibah Baptist Church Cemetery, Lincolnton, GA with Reverend Alan Danner officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Lewis Phillips, Kyle Reese, Mike Lewis, Joey Lewis, David Hill, David Hopkins, Patrick Hill and Wayne Partridge.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Barefield Sunday School Class.
She was preceeded in death by a daughter, Gail Griffin, brothers, Theron, Maynard and D.T. Danner.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Hill of Augusta; grandchildren, Walt Griffin of Tallahassee, FL and Teresa Mathwich of North Stonington, CT; sisters, Oleeta Britt of Tifton, GA and Mildred Goldman of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Lenora Danner of Lincolnton, GA; great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Taylor, Laurel, Corey and several neices and nephews.
Mrs. Hill was born in Lincoln, County to the late Abram and Maude Lewis Danner. She was a member of Fleming Baptist Church and the Barefield Sunday School Class.

Augusta, Ga. – Gregory Lee Corley, 48, son of Jackie Troupe and Richard Corley, went to meet his Lord April 23, 2010.

Mr. Corley was born in Augusta, April 23, 1962 and where he lived all of his life . He was a graduate of Richmond Academy, a member of Southgate Baptist Church and I.B.E.W. Local 1579
and employed with Plant Vogtle.

Augusta, Ga. – Margaret F. Turner, 90, of Rollins Rd. entered into rest Thursday, April 22, 2010.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Billy Turner officiating, Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Turner was born in Augusta and was the daughter of the late William McNaughton and Lillie Owens Fuller. She was retired from Civil Service and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by the father of her children Jack Turner.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Mike and Shannon Turner of Augusta, her daughter Sherry Turner Kilgore of Hephzibah , her grandchildren, Kyle Turner and his wife Kellie, Brent Turner and his wife Laura, Dakota Turner, Trayce Audet, Stephen Day and Brad Kilgore, one great-grandson Tripp Day.

Martha Casella
Myrtle Beach, SC – Martha Casella, wife of the late Vincent Casella, formerly of Lakemont Dr., Augusta, entered into rest Wednesday, April 21, 2010, with her family by her side.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 12:00 P.M., from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Michael Lubinski officiating. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Mrs. Casella, a native of Aiken, SC, was the daughter of the late Chester and Mae Ellen Cato Holley. She was a member of the Pine Needle Garden Club for many years, a member of the Augusta Jr. Woman’s Club and was involved in the PTA at Sacred Heart School and Aquinas High School. She loved gardening, reading, traveling and playing Canasta. She was a devoted communicant of Sacred Heart and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Churches. She had a standing appointment, for thirty years, every Friday, at Cheti Warner’s Hair Fashion Boutique where she shared lunch with her very special friends.
A very special thanks to the nurses and dining staff at Brightwater Retreat Skilled Nursing and her physician Dr. Scott Hollingsworth as well as Winyah Hospice Care in Myrtle Beach, SC. To her devoted housekeeper, Jessie Turner, who cared for her for thirteen years before her move to Myrtle Beach almost three years ago.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Brunson and Don Holley.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemarie C. and Phil Hydrick of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jencie C. and Phil Hargrove of Martinez; sister, Mary Wilson of Aiken, SC; grandchildren and their spouses, James Charles and Denise Hargrove, William Joseph and Candy Hargrove, Vincent Philip and Tonya Hargrove, Philip Vincent and Lora Hydrick, Philip Andrew and Heather Hargrove, Carla Michelle Howard and Shawn Tackett; as well as 11 great grandchildren.

Augusta, GA – Mr. Richard D. Eismann, 67, of Nicoll Dr, entered into rest Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Augusta Health Care.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Eismann was born in Oregon, but had lived in the Augusta area for over twenty years. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was always generous in helping others.
He is survived by son Jessie Eismann, of California; daughter, Nicole Eismann, of Augusta; step-son, Jose Castillo, of Texas; and brother, Steve Eismann, of Florida.
