Ms. Cook was employed with Trinity Hospital for nineteen years and she was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl S. Hilliard.
She is survived by her mother, Doris J. Hilliard, Augusta, daughters, Allison Cook, Augusta, Hope Joyner, Kinston, NC; and grandchildren, Chase Joyner, Cameron Joyner, and Kaylee Bowman.

Ann Dixon Williams

Williams Ann DixonAugusta, GA – Ann Dixon Williams, 70, of Catalina Drive, wife of 50 years to the late George T. Williams, entered into rest Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Select Specialty Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010, at 3:00 pm from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with the Reverend Jimmy Sanders and the Reverend Paul Cook officiating.
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Williams was a member of Crestview Baptist Church and a member of the Sunshine Sunday School Class. She was previously a member of Augusta Primitive Baptist Church for thirty-five years. She retired from Hamricks as a sales associate. She was also a member of Al-Anon.
She is survived by her daughters Jayne Andrews and her husband Paul, Melody Blease, of North Augusta, and Tammy DeLoach, of North Augusta; brothers Bill Dixon, of Allen, OK, Lewis Dixon, of Stapleton, Max Dixon, of Stapleton; sister, Edith Dixon, Poteet; grandchildren, Jared and Brett DeLoach, Krystle Blease, Bryan, Seth and Paige Andrews; great grandchildren, Charlie and Daphne DeLoach; niece, Carolyn Morris, of Loganville, and other nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Gary Swisstack, George Zachmann, Michael Morris, Brian Peck, Ricky Williams, Donald Andrews, and Hank Chavous.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sunshine Sunday School Class.

Kenneth L. “Kenny” Goodwin

Augusta, GA – Kenneth L. “Kenny” Goodwin, 51, of Battle Row, entered into rest, Monday, January 25, 2010, at Doctors Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at 2:00 PM in Hillcrest Memorial Park, with the Pastor Pete Mays officiating. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the grave.
Mr. Goodwin was a native of Richmond County.
He is survived by his parents, Jacob L. and Virginia Barden Goodwin; one brother, Faron Goodwin; one sister and brother in law, Bonnie and Robert Slaughter; one niece, Ashley Slaughter, of Evans; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. Brooks, a native of Warsaw, Missouri, was the daughter of the late Floyd Earl and Elsie Breshears. She was retired from the Richmond County Board of Education as a lunch room manager. Mrs. Brooks loved to travel, fish, camp and square dance. She was a member of Fleming Baptist Churh and had taught the children’s Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her son James H. Brooks, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Social Circle; two daughters, Rebecca and her husband Victor McCann of Clarks Hill, SC and Lisa and her husband Mark D. Jones of Appling, GA; grandchildren, James H. Brooks, III and his wife Amanda of Lincolnton, GA, Joshua Brooks and his wife Jami and Timothy Brooks and his wife Amy all of Gibson, GA, Adam Silas and his wife Ashley of Evans as well as Jared Smith, Katlyn Jones and Mark D. Jones, Jr. all of Appling; great grandchildren Dallas Brooks of Lincolnton, GA, Chant Brooks of Gibson and Connor and Colten Silas of Evans.

Roy Herbert Piper

Roy Herbert Piper entered into eternal rest on Jan.16, 2010. Survivors include his wife,Lydia Beauvais Piper,daughters Phyllis Piper,Cathy Morgan,sons,Benjamin Piper,Jay Piper and wife Debbie,grand-daughters Christine Eyton,Serena Morgan and Miranda Piper.A son David Piper is deceased.
He received advanced degrees from the University of Illinois ,Rutgers and Augusta State .His 35 year banking career began at Georgia Railroad Bank and Trust .He was president of The Risk and Management Society in 1986-7.He retired as vice-president of First Union in 1989.
He shared extensive knowledge of the Bible as a Sunday school teacher at Good Shephard ,Trinity on the Hill and Pierce Memorial. He enjoyed writing and caring for his dogs,Tippy and Nap.
A graveside service will be at Abilene Baptist Church cemetary on Friday, Jan 29 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Red Cross-Haiti.

Harold Clifford Hord

Augusta, GA – Harold Clifford Hord, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.
Mr. Hord was the son of the late Hattie Brown Hord and Samuel P. Hord.
He was an Army WWII veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
After his service to our country, he returned to Atlanta and worked for the Southern Railroad. He later moved to Los Angeles, California, where he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement. Once retired, he moved back to Georgia. Mr. Hord was a long time resident in the city of Dalton. A graveside service is being planned and will be held at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ralph C. “Rip” Powell, Sr

Augusta, GA – Ralph C. “Rip” Powell, Sr, 84, husband of 60 years of Mary C. “Bootsie” Powell, of Mike Padgett Hwy, entered into rest Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 16, 2010, at 11:00 AM, from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, with Pastor Robert Driggers, Pastor Bruce Flowers, Reverend Jeremy Daley, and Reverend Sterling Bargeron officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Powell, son of the late Grover Cleveland and Emmie Mary Sullivan Powell, lived all of his life in Richmond County. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church and was a Contractor. He was a charter member of the 82nd Airborne Division and participated in the D-Day invasion during World War II. For his efforts he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by his son, Marvin Powell, his grandson, Dee Oellerich, his brothers, Allen Powell, and Richard Edward Powell, and his sisters, Ola Banks, Bernice Powell, Mary Hayes, Marjorie P. Sexton, and Ellen P. Moore.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, R.C. Powell, of Augusta, his daughter and son in law, Donna and Dee Oellerich, of Hephzibah, his daughter in law, Patricia F. Powell, of Augusta, his nephew, Douglas Moore, of Hephzibah, his grandchildren, Trey Powell, Heather Powell Guilfoyle, Wil Powell, Maria Daley, and Heidi Oellerich; and his great grandchildren, Caitlyn Guilfoyle, Hunter Guilfoyle, and Ruth Daley.

Pallbearers will be Don Powell, David Powell, Bennie Chavous, Bobby Brady, Bill O’Brien, and Dwayne Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Walker, Franklin Toole, Bobby Martin, Walter Brantley, Ronnie Strength, Garrett Fulcher, Charlie Webster, and Grady Sparks.

Ms. Bryant was born in Athens, Georgia, daughter of the late John and Beulah Bray Stephens. She was a member of First Assembly of God and taught cosmotology at Richmond Academy for many years.

Survivors include her brother and sister in law, Larry and Marian Stephens, of Augusta, her nephews, Richard Stephens and his wife Cynthia of Clearwater, SC, and Anthony Stephens of Augusta, and a great-niece Trista Stephens, of Clearwater, SC.

Lee Dewey Williams

Harlem, GA – Lee Dewey Williams, 89, of Old Augusta Hwy, husband of the late Virginia Cameron Williams, entered into rest Thursday, January 7, 2010, at the residence.
No services will be held at this time.
Mr. Williams, son of the late James Stewart Williams Sr and Rosa Mae Jones Williams, was a native of Richmond County but spent most of his life in Florida. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the Firestone Company and was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
He is survived by his nieces, Cheryl Manuel, of Appling, Virginia Love, of Harlem, and Evelyn Price, of Evans; his nephews, Ray Williams, of Grovetown, and Charles Lewis, of Martinez.
The family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver, Shirley Shomber of Appling.
