Bernice Lena Graham Lewis

Martinez, GA – Bernice Lena Graham Lewis, wife of the late Neal Harley Lewis, entered into rest Sunday, December 13, 2009, at her daughter’s residence.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at 3:00 P.M., from the graveside in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lewis, a native of Horry County, was the daughter of the late Robert E. Lee and Laura Jane Jernagin Graham. She had lived in Augusta since 1951. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was of the Baptist Faith.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Faye Lewis.
She is survived by her daughter, “Joye” Mazelle Lewis Graham; grandsons, Donnie Tilman Horne and David Thomas Horne and his wife Marcie; great grandchildren, Justin and Mackenzie; as well as beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at her daughter’s home, 4174 Quail Springs Dr., Martinez, GA, 30907.

Jean R. Smith

Augusta, Ga.- Jean R. Smith, 83, wife of the late Henry F.(Pat) Smith entered into rest Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Trinity Hospital.
Private graveside services were held Friday, December 11, 2009 in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Chaplain Frankie May officiating.
Mrs. Smith was born in Augusta and the daughter of the late Artimus and Nellie Jones Russell. She was a homemaker and Presbyertian.
Survivors include, her sons and daughters in law, Pat and Gayle Smith , Artie and Janice Smith her daughter, Sherrie Hurst all of Augusta, four grandchildren, Patrick (Vee) Smith, Chris R. Smith, Jennifer R. Ellis and Candice Hurst, three great-grandchildren, Sydney Smith , Brandon Ellis and Kayla Hurst, her brother and sister in law, Ted and Frances Russell of Augusta, her sisters and brothers in law, Faye and Billy Cawley of Augusta and Barbara Anne and Buddy Smith of North Augusta, SC.

Randolph L. Johnson, Sr.

scan0001Augusta, GA – Randolph L. “Mike” Johnson, Sr, 81, husband of the late Mary Lou Moxley entered into rest Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Select Speciality Hospital.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at 11:00 A.M., in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Pastor Stacey Williford officiating.
Pallbearers will be: William Johnson, Trey Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson, David Powell, George Lewis and Walter Murray.
Mr. Johnson, a native of Augusta, was the son of the late John Ewell and Millie M. Johnson. He was a member of Marks Baptist Church and a Merchant Marine. He was a carpenter and home builder before owning Mike’s Bait & Tackle and also was co-owner of Double J Builders.
He is survived by his son Randolph L. Johnson, Jr., and his wife April of Mitchell, Ga; daughter, Norma Johnson Pate of Martinez; brothers, Rudolph L. Johnson of Augusta and Gene F. Johnson of Dearing; sister, Louise Pruitt of Killen, TX; grandchildren, Randolph L.”Little Randy” Johnson, III, Andrea Calahan and Jeremy Duncan; step-grandchildren, Terry Morrison and Matt Morrison and aunt, Billie Williams.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., at the funeral home.

Phyliss O. Corbin

Augusta, GA – Phyliss O. Corbin, 63, wife of the late Stanley Corbin, entered into rest Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Eisenhower Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2009, at 12:00 PM, from Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Dr. Michael Davenport officiating.  (Family and friends are requested to assemble at the graveside.)

Mrs. Corbin, daughter of the late Floyd and Eartha Holt Carter,  was a native of Augusta. She was the owner and operator of Corbin’s Personal Care Home.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristy Widener, and grandson, Dylan Widener, both of Augusta.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service.
