Linda Jean Orander

Hephzibah, GA – Entered into rest on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, Mrs. Linda Jean Orander, 67, wife of the late Bernard H. Orander of Hephzibah.
The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Father Matthew Ericksen as celebrant. Interment be will follow in Blythe Baptist Church Cemetery and Reverend Oscar McGee will officiate.
Mrs. Orander, a native of Warrenville, SC, was the daughter of the late Wiley Eugene and Martha Kaney Buck. She had worked as a nursing assistant for Jennings Health Care. Her family said she was very giving and ready to help anyone in need. She enjoyed the Chatter Box Senior Citizen’s Group at Our Lady of the Valley and researching geneaology of her family. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Orander was preceded in death by her siblings, Clyde Edward Buck and Sylvia Marie Buck.
She is survived by her children, Debra Jean Widener, Jeffery Todd (Tabitha) Orander; Loticia Lynn (Allen) McManus; brother, Donald Eugene (Alvah) Buck; sister Myrna Joyce (Danny) Carroll; grandchildren, Geoffrey Tyler Orander, Lena Marie McManus and Deanna Lynn McManus; as well as a dear friend, Anna Ruth Tharpe.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Odom, Charles Odom, Don Tharpe, Michael Tharpe and Michael Tharpe, Jr.

David Owen Fort

Fort David photoAugusta, Ga.- David Owen Fort, 94, of Mura Drive, husband of the late Carolyn Miller Fort, entered into rest Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Reverend Billy Atkins officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Fort, son of the late David O. and Josie Tanner Fort, was born in Laurens County Georgia. He was a member of Fleming Baptist Church and long time member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Fort was retired civil service and had served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Fort was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mitzie Faye Fort.

Survivors include his son and daughter in law, David O. “Owen” and Carol Fort, of Evans; his daughters and sons in law, Carol Anne and Denny Works, of Evans, GA, and Margaret and Bob Wehn, of Augusta; grandchildren, Kevin and Lara Fort, Micah and Laurie Fort, Derek and Michele Fort, Charity and Jason Carrington, Heather and Joe Weaver, Faith and Chris Suell, Elizabeth Wehn, and Robert Wehn; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be his Grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Encouragers Sunday School Class of Fleming Baptist Church.

Hephzibah, GA – Nina Lee Mason, 74, entered into rest Monday, December 28, 2009, at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at 1100 A.M., from the graveside in Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family and friends should assemble at the graveside.
Ms. Mason, a native of Rock Hill, SC, was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Willie Igrahm. She had lived in Augusta most of her life and was a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents Ms. Mason was preceded in death by her brother, Reverend Thomas E. Mason.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack T. and Carolyn Mason, Sr., and Robert E. and Sharon Anne Mason all of Hephzibah, GA; a sister-in-law, Thelma Mason of Belvedere, SC; nieces and nephews, Kim Threet, Jack Mason, Jr., Travis Mason, Kelly Elizabeth Briel, Robert E. Mrs. McCormack, daughter of the late Louis Clarence and Birdie Agnes Glass Eubanks, was a native of Jackson, Tennessee. She was a member of the Burns Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active with the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Happy Club and the Food Pantry of the Church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Charles McCormack; sisters, Irene Goodier and Betty Jo Hill; and brother, Bill Eubanks.
She is survived by daughters and son in law, Jackie and Harry Elsey, and Angie Hatfield; sons, Neely K. McCormack and Billy Gene McCormack; brother and sister in law, Bob and Catherine Eubanks; sister, Helen Clements; grandchildren, Brian Clements and his wife, Holly, Michelle Hatfield, Adam Hatfield, Allison Elsey Jester and her husband, Adam, and Elliott Elsey; and great grandchildren, Maddison Hatfield and Maxton Clements; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Hephzibah, GA – Hyang “June” Haight, 75, wife of Paul A. Haight, entered into rest Thursday, December 24, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Haight was a good wife who always had a good word for people. She was a Buddhist.

Augusta, GA – Geneva Young Perry, 90, of Balfour St, wife of the late James M. Perry, entered into rest Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at University Hospital.

Mrs. Perry, daughter of the late Charlie and Katie Lee Whitaker Young, was a native of Augusta. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was an avid gardener and a wonderful Southern cook.
She was preceded in death by her sons, J. Marion Perry and Ronald E. Perry, one brother and two sisters.
She is survived by daughters and sons in law Glenda and Chris Fairey, of Titusville, FL, and Karen and Dewey Michelin, of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Hamilton Young, of Lexington, SC; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Wheeler was born in Kite, GA to the late Elzie Silas and Aubrey Tharpe Sheppard. She was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church and had retired from Wicks Lumber Company. She was the Director of the Augusta Women’s Bowling Association and a member of the WIBC and USBC.
