Everett G. Phillips, Sr.

Augusta, GA – Everett G. Phillips, Sr, 67, entered into rest Friday, November 20, 2009, in Augusta.

An interment service will be held Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at 1:00 P.M., in Westover Memorial Park.

Mr. Phillips, a native of Augusta, was the son of the late Millard G. and Susie Newman Phillips Lynn. He was a Millwright and a member of the Local Carpenters and Millwrights Union 283.

He is survived by his daughter Keron Phillips Love; son, Everett G. “Eddie” Phillips, Jr.; former spouse, Cornelia Phillips; step-sons, Lee Durham, Steven Durham and Wayne Durham; grandchildren, Kiera Love Randall, Jamie Love, Vincent Phillips, Robert Durham and Amanda Medved; great grandchildren, Brianna Love Kitchens, Kaley Randall, Shaylan Durham and Courtney Bennings.

Dorothy Jean McCorkle Brown

Brown, Dorothy photoAugusta, GA – Dorothy Jean McCorkle Brown, 74, formerly of Wrens, GA,  went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at University Hospital.

Born April 17, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Durham H. and Eva Thompson McCorkle, of Wrens, GA. She was a retired healthcare provider and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a devoted friend to many.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her son, Ronald E. Powell, and by her daughter, Eva Christine Powell Brown.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah J. and Ronnie W. Smith, of Franklin, NC; her sons Donald H. Powell, of Augusta, and Thomas C. Powell, of Morganton, NC; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009, at 2:00 pm, from the Sherwood Baptist Church, with the Reverend Jim Johnson officiating.  Mrs. Brown will lie in state at the church from 1:00 pm until the hour of service.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be David Powell, Kevin Lowery, Timothy Blackburn, Frank Nelson, Jr, George Roberson, and Michael Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wells McCorkle, Sr, and the Adult Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 14, from 1:00 until 2:00 pm, at the church.

Mr. Fred W. McDade

Fred McDadeAugusta, Ga.- Fred McDade ,90, husband of Virginia B. McDade entered into rest Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 13, 2009 at 3:00 P.M.from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors with Pastor Mark Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery.

Mr. McDade was born in Augusta, Ga. And son of the late John C. and Minerva Bynes McDade. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy. He retired as a locksmith from Ft. Gordon after many years service.

Mr. McDade was the oldest member of Friendship United Methodist Church where he had served as trustee, Adminstrative board member and helped build the present church. He was also a member of the Adult Sunday School Class.

Mr. McDade was preceded in death by his daughter Wonnie Langley and his grandson James F. Williams.

Additional survivors include; his son and daughter in law, James R. and Betty  McDade his daughters and son in law, Cheryl and Tommy Beauford, Marquita Hodges all of Augusta, Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Active Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Adult Sunday School Class.

Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Friendship United Methodist Church 3027 Tobacco Rd. Hephzibah, Ga. 30815.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mr. Clifton Kneece

Hephzibah, GA – Clifton Kneece, 80, husband of Molly Kneece, of Hephzibah, entered into rest Saturday, October 31, 2009, at the Downtown V.A. Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at 2:00 P.M., from the Mausoleum Chapel of Hillcrest Memorial Park. Inurnment will follow in the Mausoleum of Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Kneece, a native of Blythe, was the son of the  late John Mack and Nina Edgar Kneece. He was a loving father and grandfather and of the Baptist faith.

Others surviving him include his daughters and their husbands, Samantha and Darren Jones of Morrisville, NC, Melisa and Nathaniel Sapp of Decatur, AL, Kristy Kneece of Hephzibah, GA, Paula and Robert Walter of Hephzibah, Ga; Deborah and Paul Stitt of Mayslick, KY and Dee and Chuck Svensson of Gulf Shores, AL; sister, Katie Carswell of Hephzibah, GA; four grandchildren, Casey Jones, Abbie Sapp, Zoie Lucas and Lilly Walter.

The family will receive friends this Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 at the funeral home.
