Mrs. Lila Skinner Erwin

Waynesboro, GA – Mrs. Lila Skinner Erwin, 86, of Waynesboro, GA, wife of Reverend Henry K. Erwin, entered into rest, Saturday, September 26, 2009, at the residence, surrounded by family.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2009, at 2:00 PM from the First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro.
Mrs. Erwin was born in Ozark, AL and grew up in Columbus, GA, from the age of two.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by five daughters, eight grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church of Waynesboro.

Augusta,GA.- V.B. James, 88, of Milledgeville Rd, husband of the late Reba Chavous James entered into rest Friday, September 25, 2009 at University Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2009, at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors, with the Reverend Fred Heard officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. James was a member of Mize Memorial United Methodist Church where he formerly served on the Finance Board. He also was a former member of the United Methodist Men and he served as an usher. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Highland Ave, the Richmond Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #463, and the Alee Temple. He was owner for fifty years of V.B. James Sand and Gravel.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his brother Henry Grady James, Jr. and his sister, Eva Smitherman.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Roye, Martinez, granddaughter, Natalie Yelton – Orlando, Hillsborough, NC; great grandchildren, Zachary Orlando, Caleigh Orlando, and Carrington Orlando; and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Zachary Orlando, Perry Tam, Paul Griffin, Carey Russell, and Kenny Kinsey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Chavous, Clarence Bowen, and Marvin Lester Chavous.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 27, from 3:00 until 5:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Cecil E. McCollum, Sr

McCollum photoAugusta, GA – MSG Cecil E. McCollum, Sr, US Army Retired, 77, husband of 54 years to Margie James McCollum, of Westbrook Rd, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at Eisenhower Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 26 2009, at 12:00 Noon., from the First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, with Dr. Al Wright, and Tom Bugg officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
Mr. McCollum will lie in state at the Church from 11:00 AM until the hour of the service.
He loved the Lord and served the Lord. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro. He was also a member of the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class.
Mr. McCollum was a retired Master Sergeant with the United States Army, including tours in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was a member of the Richmond Masonic Lodge #412, Hephzibah, the American Legion Post #120, Waynesboro, the DAV Post Pendleton King #10, and the Richmond Chapter #483 order of the Eastern Star, Hephzibah. “I was Army, I am Army, I will always be Army.”
In addition to his wife he is survived by sons Cecil Edward McCollum, Jr, Augusta, and Reverend James Randall (Randy) McCollum and his wife, Theda, Newport News, VA; daughter and son in law, Leslie McCollum Mobley and Jeff Mobley, Snellville, GA; brothers and sisters in law, Charles and Carolyn McCollum, Brunswick, GA, Cary and Linda Gail McCollum, McIntosh, FL, Norman and Jan McCollum, Pensacola, FL, and Joe and Mary McCollum, Brunswick, GA; and grandchildren, Heather Elise McCollum, Hunter Evan McCollum, and Hannah Elise Mobley.
Active pallbearers will be members of the military.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elders and Deacons of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro and the American Legion Post #120.
The family will receive friends this Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
